Let’s be real, lonely feelings suck.
Sometimes being single feels like it sucks too. Who doesn’t want to feel loved and appreciated? What girl hasn’t been there?
So I’ll look back to when I was single and hurting after a particularly stinging breakup and I’ll be the first to admit that being single really can make you feel like a big bucket of poo.
BUT, (and this is a big butt) SINGLEDOM DOES HAVE SOME PERKS. And so, a mere week from Valentine’s Day, which we all know is basically Hell Day to single folk, I am going to point out why the single af years actually rock hardcore.
For example, YOU CAN DO THIS:
AND ALSO THIS:
AND LOTS OF THIS:
AND OF COURSE YOU CAN TREAT YO’ SELF AND ONLY YO’ SELF.
See single ladies? You win in the end.
BUT if you really do want some heart to heart mush, here it is. This is what I actually miss, yes you read that right, MISS from being single: The idea that I could do anything I wanted to do at anytime without having to factor another human being into my future plans. I used to dream about whisking myself away to Greece, living there like a crazy person, and eventually run into Costa from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. But now I’d have to take a crazy boyfriend with me too and we all know that men just slowly kill you from the moment you meet them. (Joking, mostly.)
Also, when you’re single, you have more time and deeper connections with your friends. And to be honest, if I hadn’t grown a pair and made myself grow in my single years at school, I wouldn’t have been confident enough with myself to have the relationship I do today. I would have screwed it up big time.
And that’s what the single af years are for; for you to figure yourself out, have some crazy times, and get confident in who YOU are. That way when you meet Mr. Right, you’ll be more than prepared. 🙂
And always remember that Chris speaks the truth:
